CAROLINA ORTIZ 

Carolina Ortiz is a Chicago based multimedia artist with a focus on photography. In 2022, Carolina began college at Columbia College Chicago planning to graduate in 2026, majoring in photography with a concentration in fine art photography and with a minor in fine arts. 

 

Originally a painter, Carolina has explored various practices to eventually find and create a unique experimental and surrealist inspired approach to her fine art photography that has allowed her to express various emotions and concepts. Although Carolina's main focus is fine art photography, her work ventures into plenty of art styles and practices, allowing for experimentation and variety. As of late, her work looks to capture and describe the essence of her day to day life through documentary photography where she has found community and connection with others. 

 

Through photography Carolina hopes to translate unique, raw, depictions of our lives and thoughts and turn them into art. Her work ultimately focuses on communicating her vision of this world and transmitting her perspective of her day to day life through her lens. Photography allows us to express ideas that can not be expressed through any other device. through this medium, Carolina aims to take reality the way we see it,  takes its essence, and ultimately make it hers.
