Amalgamate

When it comes to certain spaces, there is a unique sense of thrill and excitement that is exclusively owned by a specific moment. A fleeting permanence in the impermanent that holds a distinct sentiment impossible to recreate. The moment is there and then it is gone. Through action, movement and atmosphere, an emotion is created and belongs only to that space temporarily.

However, photography has the capacity of trapping time and essence, allowing it to bring back memories and environments to its best ability. Photography revives energy, intensity and passion through the use of a lens. It monumentalizes emotions and moments gone in time, attempting to shape them back up after being lost forever. In attempts of recreating unique shared sensations and experiences, Amalgamate seeks to convey unique instances of action and emotion exhibited by crowds throughout local hardcore shows. The zine is a compilation of distinct moments of movement, action, community and exertion in the Chicago underground music scene. Inspired by the concept of impermanence in moments, amalgamate attempt to capture real moments that will be forever gone and bring them back to life.
